Star
#127
Brown TB Mare.
Appx. 8-9 yrs. old. Appx. 16.2 hands. This mare is racetrack broke
only. She has an old bow that does not seem to affect her. Very
nice mare . She was quiet and interested while I took pictures.
Not spooky.
Star, (her
new name) has found a home! Her new mom, Michelle, is in the process
of arranging transport to bring this lovely girl home to Washington!
Some new details on "Star" came to light
1) Star has
only one eye. Whoever did the surgery on this mare did a wonderful
job! It is not a new injury, but one that she well adjusted to.
2) Star's
registered name (yup, she's registered!) is Jillumimate. She was
foaled 1/8/93. She is by Slewvescent and out of Canadian Jill
who is by Canadian Gil!
Thanks so
much for helping Star Michelle! We will be anxiously awaiting
updates and pictures!
Update
2/20/00 - Star is sooooooooo sweet.
I fed her out in her paddock this morning along with the others
in their
paddocks and she munched away. I had fed her a little light
yesterday
so she wouldn't
try to colic but this morning she definitely wanted her
grain
and alfalfa
hay. While she ate I groomed her. She was such a mess when
she
arrived that
I knew my first job with her was a good grooming with a
curry
brush. She
loved it. She lifted her hooves up for me no problem. She
loves
to have her
face brushed and LOVES apples. While I picked up the messes
in her
paddock she followed me and nudged me to pet her more. She really
likes
my old guy.
Just a quick
note from Star.
I am doing
great. I love my new home and have a roommate. She is a young
Dutch filly and we play all day long. The weather in Washington
has been great so I have been able to be outside playing everyday.
I do have one problem. I keep gaining more weight.
I will write
with further info soon. Please give carrots and love and new homes
to my buddies I had to leave behind at the feedlot. I know there
is a wonderful home out there for them too.
STAR
Update
6/9/01 - It has been a year since I have updated you on star.
She is doing great. We have not tried any riding as I hurt myself
last year and am now getting
ready to get back in the saddle. She has settled in just fine
and has a great friendship with my yearling. I am ready to start
looking for the next one.
